Bienvenidos!
It was time again for a technology upgrade and while at it add some new content and completely
transform the look of the site. There are exciting development plans but that all depends on your
continued support now that Focus On Panama / Panama Sights is on its 13th year of
operation!. We hope you enjoy the addition of a richest media experience in my site.
The site is best viewed with FireFox 2.0 or Internet Explorer 7.0, older versions
might exhibit some visual aberrations.
Beside the total transformation of the main site you may have found that your old links have been
moved around a bit and the forums have been thrown away as there was little activity there
to warrant its continued existence. There is also new content available and we hope for your
continued support not only in visiting the site but in visiting the sites of our sponsors and
advertisers.
Sad news, after nearly 13 years of presenting good information about Panama on the
net I have decided to pull the plug on the whole project. The reasons are not so
simple, but here they are:
- there have been certain changes in my personal life that require my
full attention (life goes on) and I won't have time for further developments.
- Some time last year there was an issue that while it has nothing to do with me
it has simply taken out the joy of all the 13 years I have served the cybercommunity
with providing information about life in Panama. I simply do not think all this is
worth the trouble anymore.
- In more than a decade of service bringing a good face to Panama I am sad to say
that I have never, ever received a single thanks, cooperation or even advertisement
from any hotel or business or institution in Panama, the country I have so lovingly
represented since this began as a simple personal website before there was even
internet in Panama.
It is just sad that in spite of the good will some things are simply not appreciated.
I have more than a decade paying this out of my own pocket, dedicating my free time
when possible and I just don't have neither the time nor the energy to continue
pursuing this.
The site will remain online for a while pending some news but I expect that I will
pull the plug before the middle of next year, hopefully sooner. Then I have more time
to mentally and physically prepare for surgery. They Coralys site will also be
shutdown.
A land divided, a world united
By some Panama is poetically called "A land divided". Panama like any other country may be
divided by political affiliations but luckily it is doing well in continuing to be the melting pot
of cultures and races. It has been called a divided land because of the large gap that was hacked
on its middle for building the Panama Canal.
