New Copyright Law in Panama Fines People and Ignores Artists PDF Print E-mail

A new bill passed in Panama's legislature on Wednesday night has technology forums calling it the "worst copyright law in history". Bill 510 will allow the Panama copyright office to individually identify torrent downloaders and issue fines upto $100,000 for a first offense and $200,000 for a second offense, without giving any of the money to to artists or copyright owners.

Torrent downloaders, BEWARE.
