Recently I found myself wondering, what it would it have been like growing up as an expat in Panama? I asked some friends what their thoughts were, and together we listed some of the pros and cons. One pro that came to mind was, learning a new language. The first con we thought of was leaving behind friends. We continued to list these pros and cons, until it became strikingly clear that the majority of them could have been applied to our own lives.
How do we overcome the cons? And how do we take advantage of the pros? I think many of us do both through social interactions within the community. We attend mixers to make new friends, we write on forums for support, and take classes in hopes of achieving continual growth. As a kids in the area are the same opportunities available? While I don’t think they always were here, these oppertunities are certainly starting to emerge.
Over the last couple years, the youth population in the beaches area has grown immensely. There are several businesses in the area stepping outside the box to offer something new for this group of young people. Mama Mia is one of these businesses.
