Tanya Coronado and Katyel from Pty Lawyers at Playacommunity Business breakfast. On Friday September 7th, The Playa Community held its 3rd Beach Business Breakfast at Picasso Restaurant in Coronado. There were over 30 in attendance from the business community which made it the most successful business to date.

The Playacommunity Business Breakfast was created by Karyn Saunders and Jamuna Burry of Playacommunity.com as they saw a need for business professionals at the beach to get together, network and share challenges and successes to help make the beach community an even better place for consumers and business owners and those yet to come.

This month the speaker was Tanya Coronado from PTY Lawyers. Tanya presented on the new Resident Visa which will give foreigners not only a resident status but the ability to work and to apply for a Panamanian passport within 5 years of receiving their residency. A few key points were:

1. Must hold a corporation or have a job offer from a Panamanian employer.
2. Must have $5000 in a Panamanian Bank
3. Must have a letter from a Panamanian bank stating that you have held money in an account for 6 months.
4. Criminal record check from your home country with a consulate apostil.
5. Hold a current passport from one of the 22 countries approved for this visa.

Tanya fielded many questions and did a fantastic job of informing the breakfast attendees on different options and benefits of each visa offered in Panama. The meeting was adjourned at 10am but many stayed on to chat, network and discuss various business issues. The next meeting will be on Friday October 5th at 2012. The event will be posted on the PlayaCommunity site and RSVP’s are required. The venue and speaker TBA this week.
