golden frog The golden frog (la rana dorada), originally native to El Valle de Antón Panama, has been extinct from the wild since 2007. The critically endangered species now lives only in captivity. This Friday, August 17th, and Saturday August 18th, the frogs will be on display at the El Nispero Zoo in El Valle.

On Friday August 17th the zoo will host the Rana Dorada (Golden Frog) parade, starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by an informative afternoon of presentations with a focus on conservation. This is a great opportunity to catch a glimpse of the last remaining golden frogs in Panama.
